30 days of creativity – Day 10 – Foot

30 day creativity challenge Day  10; Copying Shani

Shani Burgess is also doing the 30/30 challenge – and on her day 5 she drew a picture of her foot. Shani also does amazing Paper mache I am very jealous of!

This is a great idea because I have control over my foot moving! It’s not like trying to draw cats or people.

My foot drawing was done last night, by the light of the reading lamp in my bedroom. It’s not an excuse for the lack of quality of the drawing. I feel a whole lot better about my ability to represent something on paper than I did 10 days ago. I don’t think I held my breath for any of this. I’m happier with my outlines now, my shading is that of a small child but I can work on that when I have nailed outlines. Even after 4 years of art college, I lack technical skills. I probably just wasn’t listening when I should have been.

I gave up trying to draw the check on the duvet cover. Yes, it’s July and I still have a duvet, and a thin quilt on top.

Feet are weird, the only way I could do this was to not analyse what I was looking at. If I just draw what I see and don’t think about how weird and generally freaky it is, all is well. I like my feet, they have glossy deep blood colour nail varnish on right now, but I still think they are weird.

You can see the reason this started and the rest of the days here – http://www.ragbaby.co.uk/1120-2/

And if you want to join in we have a Facebook group – https://www.facebook.com/groups/154085144775381/
Over on Crackbook a bunch of us are going to be working through Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain: A Course in Enhancing Creativity and Artistic Confidence

The first exercises are to draw a self portrait, your hand and something else I can’t remember so you can see improvement. Then you move onto drawing a vase from a silhouette. You can see the vase exercise here – http://drawright.com/vaceface.htm.

The plan is to do an exercise every Sunday from the book.
